Policies.

Clear policies are an important part of creating a safe, respectful and professional therapeutic relationship. They help set healthy boundaries, outline mutual expectations, and ensure transparency around how I work. Having these agreements in place protects both you and me, allowing us to focus on the work of therapy with clarity and trust.

You're welcome to view my policies at any time, and I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or need clarification.

  • This agreement outlines the key terms and expectations of our work together at Makepeace Therapy. It covers the type of therapy I offer, how sessions are structured, and what you can expect in terms of confidentiality, supervision, and data protection in line with GDPR.

The contract also explains payment terms, cancellation policies, use of technology such as ambient scribe transcription, and how we will manage boundaries both inside and outside of sessions. It reflects my commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and ethical space that is inclusive and professional.

  • Life can be unpredictable, but regular attendance is an important part of the therapeutic process. My cancellation policy outlines what happens if you need to cancel or miss a session, including what counts as a Did Not Attend (DNA) and when fees may still apply.

Read the full Cancellation & DNA Policy, here.

  • If you ever have concerns about your therapy or feel something isn’t working, I encourage you to speak with me directly so we can explore and address it together.

If you feel unable to resolve the issue with me, you are also entitled to contact the BACP.

You can find out more, here.

  • Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. What you share with me stays private, with a few legal exceptions which are outlined clearly in my policy. This helps create a safe space where you can speak openly and be heard without judgement.

    Read the Confidentiality Policy, here.

  • Your privacy and confidentiality are central to our work together. I am fully committed to protecting your personal data in line with UK GDPR regulations. My policy explains how your information is collected, stored, and used.

  • I’m committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive space, free from discrimination and open to people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences. My EDI policy outlines how I aim to uphold these values in my practice.

  • Item descriptionBuilding trust is at the heart of my practice. That's why my Safeguarding Policy is so important. It's a clear statement of my dedication to protecting every client, especially children, young people, and adults at risk, by following the highest ethical standards of the BACP and UK safeguarding laws. This transparent approach means you can engage in therapy knowing that robust procedures are in place to ensure your safety and well-being at all times. You can view the policy, here.

  • This appendix specifically details the unique agreements and safety protocols for clients engaging in Walk and Talk Therapy. It's essential because conducting therapy outdoors introduces distinct considerations regarding confidentiality, personal safety, environmental factors, and emergency procedures that differ significantly from traditional indoor or online sessions. Read the appendix, here.

Ethics in therapy is not just about rules—it is about honouring the humanity of the person sitting across from you.”
